This linoprint was created as part of a collaboration between Swansea Print Workshop, Swansea University & the South Wales Miners' Library. 

This print depicts a plan typical of the many small, private drift mines along the northern & western edges of the South Wales coalfield. An accurate mine plan was a legal requirement, whatever the size of the mine workings, and was of major importance to the safety of the miners. A number of my in-laws made their living in such mines.
