This is a linocut depicting the last four lines of the RS Thomas poem 'The Last of the Peasantry'. I find the words stark and have attempted to depict this, reflecting the character's lack of joy in his existence. The vibrant colour of the sun and the fire are meant as a counterpoint to this and symbolise a warmth and hope that he seems oblivious to.
